Don't worry, Phil - I'm planning on doing something like this. I should get around to it before someone else does! 😀

Excellent 😀

Jokes aside, Linux retro gaming is on my project list, but that list is constantly growing, way faster than I can produce content.

You can also do some DOS file managers comparison or show some graphic drawing program for DOS like Deluxe Paint.

Has someone done a review of the least terrible looking: hercules, cga, ega, vga titles, that run on low-end machines (XT/AT) ?

Fixed that for you.

Don't know about reviews but there are some webcasts e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1isu8oMxTw

A cool followup to your 4 in 1 retro PC would be a VIA C3 based DOS capable retro PC. In particular, a scaling analysis would be very informative.

And if you were to do this, please add results to the list I maintain. 😀

That would indeed be interesting, what CPU(s) are of particular interest?

Nehemiah 1.2? It's supposed to scale down into 286 territory with lots of stops in between.

Edited as the 1.4 PGA chip either does not exist or is extremely rare and exotic.

The parts used for the build, such as motherboard, memory, graphics card, cooler, sound card, PSU, monitor and so on are all shown in the video with their product names.

ForceWare 93.71 is the graphics driver and benchmarks used are 3DMark 2001, 3DMark03, AquaMark, Codecreatures Pro, Serious Sam SE, X2 The Threat, Comanche 4, Doom 3, Far Cry and F.E.A.R.

A great device to have if you're already using the internal GOTEK!

External USB Floppy Emulator GOTEK

- Connects to USB port of your modern PC
- Uses USB stick instead of floppies
- USB stick is compatible with internal GOTEK
- Great for transferring files between old and new PC
- Great for BIOS flashing
- Great for Windows XP AHCI driver loading

No video this week because I am moving!!

Firstly, thank you for your support so far!

Got to move out of my 2 bed unit, space has become an issue anyway, so I'm actually quite keen to move. Been house hunting and found a lovely 3 bed house with large rooms, tiles throughout, an extra entertainment room and a nice garden out the back.

I won't be able to do any videos for a while, hopefully I'll be back in 2 weeks or so.

A dedicated room just for filming should make life easier and I want to have a few permanently setup computers, rather than having to pack everything up right away. My DOS time machine will get a dedicated spot in the lounge / dining area, and I'm thinking of having another desk as solder / de-solder station and the Mist FPGA with CRT monitor.

As always, expect a mix of old and new, DOS, Windows 98, XP, Mist FPGA, Roland MIDI, Sound Cards, Graphics Cards, Intel vs AMD and much more!

And if there is something you would like to see, let me know, I'll add it to my ever growing list of projects 😀

See you soon on the other side with hopefully bigger and better Videos 😁

Phil

I watched your latest movie on youtube, and I also have ATI Rage 128 but with 90/90 clocks only, on Commander Keen 4-6 when I using Celeron 433 with that card option "fix jerky motion" solved that problem, but when I use that card with Pentium III 866, even enabling this option in CK4-6 don`t solve that, so also CPU can cause that problem with that videocard.
