I'm still bummed they removed support for Windows 98 and PPC Macs. This was one of my favorite games to play on retro machines.

Is this too much voodoo?

Well, you don't need to update game to version, which removes Win 98 compatibility. The same applies for StarCraft, you don't need to play that new free Battle.net version, just install goog old one from CD. I don't see any problem with that.

This is absolute dirtbag move, but what can we expect from Blizz. Even the old patch descriptions are wiped from their website.

Can anyone confirm that 1.28.5 still works on 98SE? I got 1.29 because of the resolution patch for my Win7 box but thats the only useful fix it has.

I remember that long before they officially discontinued W98 support, the game was glitchy on that system. Mouse scrolling was broken, IIRC. I had to use the direction keys to scroll. It was still playable, but annoying.
