Boring advertisement ahead, brace yourself!
SVED is a DOS text editor.
Why? Because I needed a text editor for SvarDOS. It had to be multilang-aware, small, reasonably user-friendly, free, and usable on a monochrome 8086 PC with 256K of RAM.
Oh, and it also had to be able to open multiple files and perform basic COPY/PASTE operations between them. And handle files larger than 64K.
I looked around for a matching editor and found none. So I created my own. Sved does all the things above and has a disk footprint of 6K (ie. 12 floppy sectors).
