Hey all! I was bored today and decided to revisit my dual slot one board. this was a setup I've tinkered with, but never really put it all together and used it regularly.

It features:

Coolermaster Thermal Master TC-102 case
EPOX KP6-BS dual slot one board
Two Pentium 3 500Mhz slot 1 CPUs
512MB PC133
PNY Geforce 4 ti4200
Two STB Black Magic Voodoo 2 12MB SLI cards
20gb WD hard drive
DVD/CDRW
SB Live sound card
3Com network card
Windows 2000

I took out the original PSU and replaced with a Corsair CX430 which is one of my favorite basic PSUs for older builds. Future plans include more fans, Zip drive once I get a 3.5 to 5-inch adapter, possibly a floppy, and increase the ram to 1gb. I also may go higher on the CPUs, but for now I'm happy.

Nice setup, especially for Glide games of that time.

I got one of these boards around I think 18mos ago. It's a nice straightforward board. Mine had experienced a cap failure but it was able to be restored. I think they were Tayeh. Unfortunately I think every EpoX board I've ever seen had cheap caps from the factory, but they seem to respond well to recapping. Mine turned out to be Coppermine capable and as I recall it was still stable when overclocked to 133FSB.

This board doesn't use an onboard 3.3v regulator. The SDRAM and AGP slots are powered directly from the ATX 3.3v input. So it's important to have a good 3.3v rail on the PSU.

Interesting. I did try a 700 coppermine on a slocket and no dice. Maybe there is a bios update or maybe this one just doesn't support them. I'll have to do some research and fiddling. But it's running like a champ right now!

Right. 98 doesn't support dual CPU. There are a handful of games that use the 2nd CPU, but for me it is more with the overall Windows experience. It is overall more responsive and snappy, and much better if doing more than one thing at once.
Plus as you said it's just cool! Especially with the voodoo 2s in there. I wanted to get an old Rage Fury Maxx video card so I'd have two CPUs, a video card with dual gpus, and dual voodoo 2s for glide, but I remembered that video card only worked on 98, which would then in turn disable the second P3. So I stuck with the dual CPUs. That would be pretty cool though!

Missed this till now.
I've actually got a very similar build

Start from here if you want to skip all the nostalgia
Asus P2B-DS Build
I like the whole 2 CPU's 2 Voodoo 2 setup idea.
Its probably my most used retro rig. like everyone has said the 2nd CPU doesn't really add anything but damn its sexy

Agreed - Very cool setup! I recently upgraded the 500s to dual 700s and I'll get some time once again to mess around with it more. Lately I've been focusing on my Athlon 750 and new Voodoo 5 😊

Also I have that same ti4600 in one of my Athlon XP builds 😀
