Hi all, for my first post, i'd like to show you all my latest case paint job. I can't just rebuild them...i've got to paint them and make them famous too!

Found this little fella on the side of the road abandoned for certain shire council rubbish collection. Couldn't help myself, and gave him a home.

It had been stripped save for the switch interface. Nearly an 18 old genuine solid IBM case(date of assembly May 29 2001), with a ledgable WIN ME 2000 key sticker intact! I couldn't believe my luck.

Medium level case mod included a few holes for a fan and a minor power supply rework. More ass than class, the power supply area off cut, fit almost perfectly into the excess bracket space i'd designated for the extra fan.
If all goes to plan the nice little AGP - ASUS motherboard i cleaned and prepped with a freshly thermal pasted P4 1.9Ghz CPU recently, should bite a 20gig HDD for another WIN 98 SE install.

This will be my 6th Windows 98 SE system built and the start of many more posts with pics of them all.
It's highly possible i may have a small problem with collecting old computers and reviving them 😒

5 attachment limit i'll have to continue with a double post 🙁

Meh, you shouldn't be able to see the PC case...it's camouflaged! and the holes i drilled for venting is supposed to be a crop circle. This is my first crop circle i have ever made. I admit, i am not very good at it...but my encoded message to ET simply reads. "Take me to the nearest planet of hot women with big boobies please. Thank you" 😁

Well maybe you will find my modded cases interesting, maybe not, they are only my ideas, as one friend likes more then me to modd the look of old white PC cases, so the ideas and materials was mine, and the work was his. But still the idea is mine..
Well i can see the bamboo leafs there or it is jungle, add some animals there, or a waterfall..

Cool stuff RV, i love case modding, its almost as much fun as trying to get the old PC's to run. Been lurking here for awhile now, admins may have stats on the drivers ive been downloading from your archives. Im sure they keep secret files on all of us.

^ These four albums will save me from having to post them here me thinks.

...but once i add the LED aqua electric blue glowing fan to this case, it will start the crop circle transmitting to the aliens. So im told. That's what it said on the packing anyway...

I like it, it's certainly unique! Crop circle is a nice idea to camouflage the fan.

Though I like the original color too.

Thank you kind sir. Yes it is always hard to decide to leave it in original condition or paint it depending on how badly beaten up the case is. Either way i always drill holes somewhere for extra fans or venting. Been collecting old PC cases since about 1998. They seemed to have gone through several stages over the years from solid and heavy enough to jack a small family car up with to change a flat tyre, to light and flimsy twistable mass produced crap, then back to quality solidness again but with better cooling. There's nothing wrong with the older cases, they were just designed badly and prone to overheating due to hardly being able to breathe. I mean, how far should you take the fear of dust infiltration to? It can't be stopped, only mitigated.

My best WIN 98 SE PC that runs X-Wing and X-Wing Alliance flawlessly is a Celeron 700, 256mb of matched ram with a Soundblaster card (the long ones). The case needs a paint job but im too scared to take it apart for the process in case i break it. I have a lot of systems i never painted. It's just something i like to do these days plus, working in a Hardware store, i have access to the full range of Krylon fusion paints. That stuff sticks to just about any surface known to man kind.

Both mods are based on cars, the CM one is based on Dodge Charge R/T, the front CM Jet 7 is the Charger, this is why it is put there, and the thing on the back is spoiler, and the pipes on the bottom are like exhausts of a car..
The HP one is old rally car from 1960-70 something like that, one special car in mind Ford Escort MK I, but is still in beta state, as im not finishing the thing, it need x2 big numbers in the middle, this is why there is blank space only...
That is how i see the Ford, i think they are matching, only i need the numbers, and some few more "brand" sponsors..

Interesting ideas, seems you like jungle, nature style with all those leafs, you can try also aqua theme, like waterfalls, rocks, mountains and other will be nice with the same style..
Secret files on all of us 🤣, the hell, what do you mean by that, of course the internet is full of damn f**king CIA or FBI that are collecting info on all they can, but why do you think the admins here are doing that..

Here is the guy responsible for my ideas, he is the worker for them, im the designer.. There you can see his other works, and projects if you are interested in that type of stuff.

Really dude, black box,who the hell would want your OEM Windows product code! 🤣

I am aroused about any X86 motherboard that has full functional ISA slot. I think i have problem. Not really into that original (Turbo) XT,286,386 and CGA/EGA stuff. So just a DOS nut.
PS. If I upload RAR, it is a 16-bit DOS RAR Version 2.50.

Yeah a case mod on old cases is most of the time good and interesting. Many did not like my 2 modded cases, but like i care, it was the saem with Picasso, VanGog, DaVinci and others, no one did like their works, while they was alive, but when they did die their portraits and work of art did become very popular and expensive, so i guess mine will become the same when i die some day rofl.......

After that 2 cases i did stop, i just make now original builds no need for now of more mods, maybe some time in the feature...

Even if you do, and even if like 2 million people start usin your code, in todays time absolutely nothing is gonna come of it, and also those codes are plentifum in the wild. I was just funny to look at that black box. Some pseudo paranoia.

Certainly unique and haven't seen anything like it before. Great work!

Thank you kind sir for those encouraging words.

Just did a quick fan set up with a power supply outside the case using a power supply tester to run and check if the fan was, erm...blowing or sucking.
I think this is going to work well. I'll be starting the build shortly.

Im sure many veterans here know that feeling, the good feeling, the raw emotion, then the bond, ...once you push the power switch on, watch the monitor standby light flick from orange to green while you repeatedly press the "Del" key on the PS2 keyboard,...all because of the time and effort spent cleaning and plugging in the components with the hope the system spins up. You knew it would, if it didn't, the detective work begins all over again until you get it right. Just like Scully from the X-Files does.

Well, ...it's happened again. After two failed AGP card attempts, i was forced to resort to my last PCI card for the win.
All that is left to do now, is a sound card and the right sized sys fan, since the one originally fitted turned out to be totally rooted.

Ladies and Gentlemen, my latest WIN 98 SE specs. She's a little rough to look at now, please forgive me, but i will tidy up the wiring after the fan and sound card, promise.

P4 1.9Ghz 478b socket
Radeon 9250 128mb
40G HDD
256mb ram
DVD ROM.

Very very happy face.
