wanted something special to fill a niche between my 5170 and my K62-500 machine. Something versatile that will allow me to do bunch of dos and windows 98 gaming, so GLIDE was must.
I have a pair of voodoo 2's but i felt they were overkill for a 233, so those are going into my K6.
After seeing phil's 233mmx build, i perused what i had in stock and cobbled this together
Pentium 233MMX
MSI MB-8500TTD socket 7 motherboard
64mb RAM
Diamond Monster Fusion PCI
Matrix M3D powerVR
3COM PCI NIC
SB32PNP (I really need a proper AWE32)
Gravis Ultrasound MAX
Adaptech AH2940UW PCI SCSI Adapter
32gb HP 10kRPM ultra 320 SCSI drive
been stuck fiddling with IRQs and what not for a bit, but i think i have it sorted.
pile of parts during the parts selection process:
getting it hooked up on the test bench:
banshee's fan was really hard to spin. cleaned it out with some electronics cleaner, and put a drop of ceramic chain lube from my bike (all i had handy), spins ok for now. will have to replace the fan soon
ultimately when I'm done, my coverage will run from
tandy1000TL => 5170AT => 233MMX => K62-500 => 1ghz P3 Dell Dimension 4100.
maybe I'll stick a 386 DX40, or a 486 DX266, or a Pentium 75 into the mix somewhere, but I'm running out of desk space!
more to come
