Hi, guys! I'm from Russia. This forum is very nice =)
Sorry for my terrific english.

There is my favorite PC that i build for last three years.

Motherboard: ASUS PI/P55T2P4 rev3.10
256kb COAST Module installed - 512KB L3(see below why it became L3) total.
TAGRAM chip installed.
CPU: AMD K6-III+ Sharptooth 550ACZ. Working as 500 (FSB 83mhz x 6)
With AMD K6-2x/IIIx L2 onboard cahe going to L3 because that CPU have already both L1 & L2 cashes.
Bios is patched ofcourse for this CPU.
RD1 Bios Savior - Just "Dual Bios" In security reasons now but i'm looking for Mrbios 3.46 for my mobo.
512mb RAM - 4x128mb FPM ECC REG Samsung.
Sound:
1. AWE-32 non-PnP CT3900 with 28mb (2x16) + Roland SCB-55 (new!)
2. Gravis UltraSound PnP Pro rev3.0 8.5mb (new!)
3. Videologic SonicFury (a.k.a TB Santa Cruz) + Yamaha DB50XG (new!)
4. Covox Speech Thing 😀
Video: 3dfx VoodooMAC 5500 64mb w/DVI PCI (new!)
HDD IDE Seagate Barracuda 40gb
Optical Drive DVD+/-R Plextor PX-712A
FDD dual TEAC (5.25" + 3.5" in one)
NIC IBM EtherJet 10/100 w/WOL PCI (698480-001) (new!)
Modems: 😀
1. (COM3): U.S. Robotics Courier V.34 V.Everything 25mhz ISA upg. to x2/v.90 (new!)
2. (COM1): ZyXEL U-1496E+ External 19.2kb/s
Joysticks: Gravis Gamepad, Logitech Cyberman.

p.s.
Still loking for 128mb EDO simms workable on my system.

Wow, a killer Socket7 setup 😁

Don't think switching to EDO would make much difference here. How about getting a nice VIA Apollo MVP3 board with 2MB cache and running that K6-3+ at 600MHz?
128MB EDO modules are a very rare thing to find. Big FPM SIMMs were used in servers, but EDO > 64MB had little chance on the market since everyone already upgraded to SDRAM.

No, i want to get EDO SIMMS just for absolute potential of my mb.
I already have pc with Tyan Trinity AT S1590 mb with VIA Apollo MVP3 chipset and K6-2+ 500mhz =). But Intel chipsets my favorite for oldskool expirience, therefore i use much modern cpu on ASUS T2P4. Just for fun.

I see. Good luck finding those RAMs 😀

I once had a similar system like you, but it died because of the motherboard voltage regulators burning up, destroying a classic K6-III (2.4V AHX core, the hot one 🤣) and a Voodoo5 PCI 😒. The board was an Asus TX97-E, it was not bad, but 83Mhz was kinda unstable and the voltage regulators obviously were too weak.

AMD K6-III 2.4v AHX? maybe you mean 2.0v CTX?

It was this one. Very hard to overclock, even 50 MHz more requires raising the voltage.
My new one is a classic K6-III 450 AFR, this one is much better, it does 500 MHz easily at the standard voltage. Of course I would rather like one of the mobile K6-2/3+ units, but they are very rare and therefore expensive in Europe.

I try not to overclock my old rigs. I figure, I'm not gaining a whole lot (considering I can just use one of my faster rigs if I need to), plus I'd rather not risk decreasing the life or killing one of my older rigs.

Actually my CPU really "underclocked" to 500mhz instead 550mhz 😀 I hope someday somebody open a hidden x7 or x8 ratio in AMD K6-x CPU's. i just dream 😀

Make some changes 😀

1. Change AWE32 PnP CT3990 to non-PnP CT3900 due to error-free mpu-401 work.
2. Add Roland SCB-55 to AWE and move DB-50XG to SonicFury. And throw away Korg wavetable - it sucks!
3. Remove uselles Promise Ultra133 TX2 ide controller and add USR Courier v.everything 25mhz to shared ISA slot. Truly hardware ultraquality legendary modem. 😀

Just replace GUS MAX with GUS PnP w/8mb. It rocks! 😁

Did you see this? I'm planning to perform that 16MB mod on my GUS PnP, but haven't found the right kind of angled SIMM sockets yet 🤣

Replace my probably not bad 3COM 3C905C with probably best IBM EtherJet 😀
Based on genuine intel PRO/100+ (82558 chipset) this card known as the one of the best (maybe bestest) in PCI FastEthernet market.

Replace GUS PnP with GUS PnP Pro. It has very strange revision 3.0! Newer heared about it.
Has another instead of rev1.0 AMD Interwave chip revision.
Original rev1.0 has - 9529BGD B2
My new rev3.0 has - 9541EGD B2

Nice! Your system gets better every time 😉

Two questions about the new GUS PnP:
1) Is the IW chip the only thing that has changed with rev. 3.0? Or are there also differences on the board?
2) How does your GUS PnP/AWE32 PnP combo behave under windows? On my rig the GUS sometimes runs amok and changes IRQs and DMAs, thus blocking the AWE32. 😒
When this happens, I have to remove the entries of both cards in the device manager, reinstall them, and assign the resources manually. It doesn't happen often, but often enough to get on my nerves...
