Would the following PC work well enough as a Win98 platform?

- Pentium III 500 MHz
- 256 MB
- AMI Ratheon 7500
- Voodoo 2
- Soundblaster 16 ISA
- NEC Multi-sync

I'm wondering if the 500 MHz CPU will struggle with later Win98 games. I'm hoping the Voodoo2 will be sufficient as the newer Win98 games will assumingly support D3D. I'll primarily use it for DOS and Win98 racing games.

Should do the trick. And a Radeon 7500 is a lot faster than a Voodoo2 if you have the choice in a game. I'd use the 7500 for D3D/Opengl and the Voodoo2 just for Glide. If you run into any problems with DOS games and that Radeon, try a GeForce instead. GeForce FX is excellent for DOS and D3D/OpenGL.

I've attached a useful utility program that lets you pick which D3D card the game should use.

You should be fine. I have played up to Need for Speed Porsche Unleased with my Voodoo2 SLI on a K6-III+ without a problem. That pentium III should have plenty of power because its fpu is a lot more powerful.
