Thx for the fine welcome and response! 😀

The CPUs is this one: http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Pentium-II/Inte … 23PY400512.html

As long as there is no head issues, i would preffare not to install a lot of fans. I dont like the extra noise and all the dust, but it is possible, that i will play around with some fans and casemodding in the future. It could be awesome with a window showing of my Voodoo 2 / TNT2 Ultra <3

There is a 80mm fan in the door btw, that cools the cards.

I actually bought the Chieftec case (with some newer HW installed) in a second hand store for cheap. I really like the build quality of the case and the finish. Back in the days, i had a similar case in blue, with the "Matrix" front. Its sad that i dont have the front door, but im planning to make a custom door sometime in the future, when i have the time.

The Compaq machine is a Presario 5831 with Athlon 500 MHz (Slot A), Voodoo 3 1000, 256 MB RAM. Very nice machine indeed!

The other beige Antec is another custom build, with a Pentium III 533 MHz Slot 1, 512 MB Ram, GeForce 4 MX.

Am I crazy for still using LGA775 along with a Xeon E5450? 🤣

Well, not me, but my and also my wife's parents are still using LGA775 systems. My parents do use some Dell Optiplex 330 system, with C2D 8400, and 2GB RAM. Not the fastest system, but ever since my mom bought SSD into it, it catches second breath and for web browsing and occasional movie watching on Windows 7 it's totally acceptable.

My wife's parent got her previous daily machine (now she occupy my rig...), which we build quite some time ago (around 8 years ago, there-about), when she was at her last year of university. She needed more CPU cores, since she was rendering a lot back then, so we build cheapest 4 core Intel CPU, which was C2Q 8200 at that time, with 4GB RAM and Asus P5N7A-VM motherboard. That board is quite interesting, since it has most powerful integrated GPU back than, Nvidia 9300, way more powerful then Intel GMA joke. Later I gave her my second Radeon HD4770, which was intended for Crossfire in my daily rig back then, but it was too noisy and too hot for me, and not really that necessary, since I was rocking 1600x1200 back then. But with that card, she was able to play GTA: Vice City and San Andreas no problem, so it definitely pays off 😀 When we were giving that PC to her parent, I of course striped that GPU out of the computer, since they really don't needed it, and I will be playing with that Crossfire setup in some (hopefully not too distant) future 🙄

And yeah, the 3rd LGA775 system is in my possession, my recently build "retro" PC, but that's another story 🤣

Socket 775 - ASRock 4CoreDual-VSTA, Pentium E6500K, 4GB RAM, Radeon 9800XT, ESS Solo-1, Win 98/XP
Socket A - Chaintech CT-7AIA, AMD Athlon XP 2400+, 1GB RAM, Radeon 9600XT, ESS ES1869F, Win 98

I don't have huge amount of space for computers, so this is my small retro gaming corner. I have not found a good KVM switch yet, so I still have to switch cables when I switch the computer I use.

Interesting setup you got there, man. I'm planning on hooking up my ASUS 21.5" LCD with the HDMI cable and use my Samsung monitor as a secondary for my FX-6300 with the use of the KVM 4-PC switch box (PS/2) and getting a PS/2 splitter that connects both a keyboard and mouse on one port (my main PC has a PS/2 port for either a keyboard, mouse, or both with an adapter).

Don't think I posted my Packard Bell hoard here yet (except in the Dumpster find thread) but here it is, I never thought I'd own this many. 🤣 I remember for the first couple years after getting my Platinum 55 (the designer tower in the middle) I was desperate to find a monitor and then BLAMMO, I've been finding computers and monitors here and there ever since. One here one there, some donated others traded, another one purchased and even one shipped from England. 🤣

I found that too - when I first decided to put together a retro PC it was so hard to find parts, and it took lots of time (and money) to scrounge together the bits for a 486. But then I must have gotten better at the finding because I ended up knee deep in parts - I still have lots despite going through several purges over the years 🤣

Nice collection BTW!

Same yeah I've purged machines and parts quite a few times and I still have TONS of spare drive, HDDs motherboards ram and CPUs. I think part of the problem when you first start is just not knowing where to look outside of ebay. Luckily I had a friend who was a computer shop owner who knew where to look and he showed me where to get parts for cheap or free. 🤣

Also thanks!

Besides craigslist, offerup, and letgo... any tips you'd care to share?

Thank you 😀
Finally after years of collecting I finally have space (and sometimes time xD ) to actually play all these games 😁 😁
At the moment i play through my Mech Games. Back then I only played MW4 and Mech Commander 1 + 2.
I'm through MW2 with all Expansions and I recently finished MW3 - next up is Pirate's Moon.

I never played Morrowind apart from little testing 😮 That will definitely be a "project" in the future. I started TES with Oblivion which I actually liked a lot but I didn't finish that 🙁

Not much at the moment. It's reserved for the HTPC (all four of the other active rigs already have their own assortment of Sidewinders), but had no time till now to turn it into a PC full of games yet. 😊

EDIT: Sorry, I was thinking that you were talking about the USB one which is inside the closet, but now I understand that you were talking about 3D pro. Again not much, but it is the only thing I really can play X-Wing / TIE Fighter original DOS CD versions in real DOS. 😊
