I sympathize with the space issue. It is unfortunate that retro computing hobbies consume so much space. Emulators just aren't the same.

I wonder, if many-universes theory is correct, in what percentage of alternate universes I've been crushed under a pile of retro computers. Good way to go I suppose.

Hello everyone, new user here.

My computer area. I consolidated my workbench/Mid-2000s area in with my late 1990s area; they were previously in different rooms. The pine desk was a deliberate purchase from a thrift store to get that 1990s vibe (I picked up the iMac-style CD holder and the chair at the same time). Likewise, the other desk is a similar setup to what I had back in 2008 as a teenager and didn't have money for such frivolities as proper furniture. I'm selling the two PCs on top of that pile of 4 on the left. The globe has been more or less continually lit (save having to reset my internet powerline adaptor) for over a month, and is a 1990s model. You can tell, because the Czech Republic had separated from Slovakia, but the Democratic Republic of the Congo was still called Zaïre. So, that means it has to date from some time between 1992 and '97. I've got big boxes for all the Tomb Raider games that had them, the first three being the "Premier Collection" re-releases with bonus levels. These are the same as the US-released "Gold" versions of the games that came in those trapezoid boxes that Eidos of America liked so much, but here in Europe we got boring old box-shaped boxes :3. With the Lian-Li PC being out of action while I try to find a suitable mid-2000s system to put in there, I've got my Woodgrain 486 setup in that area, and I've been playing some Doom on it.

Nice!, I got it not long ago, it was only the case, I'm building a P133 with it to run d0s and win 3.11. The one on the desk is a 486 DX2 66MHz, I love that one, it's my favorite. I also have a P233 MMX for win 95 and a P3-1GHz for win 98 that it's coming in the mail sometime next week. 👍

On the top the same case my father had back in the day with P200mmx (Win95) - My setup is a little bit different (K6-2 +, Win98SE)😉
On the bottom the Bigtower Edition (P133, Win3.11)
i got from an older man who was about to throw it away but he let me take it with me 😊🙏

Finally did a decent clean and organize of my Retro-Lan area. Still need to organize the cables under the desks (That's still quite the nightmare of wires) but I cleaned the desk tops, the KBs/Mice/Screens, and put the shelving up on the wall - and I put most of my joysticks up on top, which I think looks good.

Now if only I knew enough people locally to do a proper LAN party..... my wife's family like to play a few games, but only very specific ones and I'd like to branch out to some of my childhood faves...

It's also like 10 minutes from the nearest town and on the property of an old fighter pilot training airport, with all the hangars still intact! So actually it probably would be a good zombie post-apocalypse command center!

Edit: I will say that I'm definitely not hoarding terribly desirable hardware to have this set up..... there's 4 P4's, 2 A64-Semprons, 1 AXP, and 1 P3-800, mostly with Radeon 9250's (a couple PCI for machines with no AGP) and GeForce FX 5200's and whatever PCI sound cards I had on hand, if the onboard didn't work. They work great for most things that run well on 98SE/ME up to 1024x768 which is really all that matters for this setup.
