yeah, i know you can do it as that is what you are telling me like every week for a year now. But would be very kind of you to finally do it instead of telling that you can do it...

As I've yold you earlier I don't have a machine ready to just stick the SB card in and try it and when I person who wants my assistance is rude it doesn't make me more eager to try the SB

Unfortunately, I don't have a 5.25" drive handy to image the disks from. I'll see if I can get to it this weekend.

That would be awesome and highly appreciated 😀

Anonymous Freak could you please wait a while till Amigaz does something for the comunity too?

Amigaz the forum was made for people to help each other, not for people to help you. As you see Anonymous Freak doesn't have anything ready too, but he is making effort and it doesn't last a year, and you don't have to beg him on knees... And of course your funny excuses every week during the last year won't make me beg you on knees now. But I am sure many people on the forum will appreciate your very short and simple test after you do it. And I guess even Anonymous Freak will be interested in the results.

robertmo, in the US we have a saying: "Beggars can't be choosers". Also we have another one: "You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar". And a third one goes: "You can't judge a soundcard by its box" (uhh...well, maybe I just made that last one up). 😉

Edit: [PS: woops. I almost forgot one of the most important sayings: "Good things come to those who wait".]

Well, not going to get any disk images any time soon. My one-and-only 5.25" drive appears to be toast.

It's an old Teac "dual-drive", the one that houses both a 3.5" and a 5.25" HD drive in one 5.25" drive bay. The 3.5" half works fine. The 5.25" half does well enough to get a directory listing of a disk, but won't read anything off. 🙁

Oh man! I have the EXACT same one with the EXACT same problem!

Yup! That's the puppy! Mine's in an AMD 5x86P75, though. 😜 In a small-form-factor desktop, even. From the labels, it was obviously meant to be pretty much a "thin client". 486 socket, two 72-pin SIMMs, onboard CL-GD5430 VGA, three ISA slots on a riser. Right now, I have a generic NE2000 card plus a Microsoft Windows Sound System in it. I had my prototype SB in it for awhile, but I just got a PS/2 Model 25 that I put it in. (Unfortunately, the PS/2 appears to be dead, so I'll be pulling the card back out.)

This chassis has one internal and one external 3.5" bay. My dual drive is used with the chassis lid off, and the dual drive sitting above the 3.5" bay on top. I think I'll try to hack together an external case for it when I get a replacement, and just use a really long ribbon cable going through the empty card slot to the onboard floppy port. Maybe I'll recycle an old SCSI CD-ROM case.

Uh... I've never exactly TRIED to hide it. On various places around the web my handle and my real name are linked.

Not sure what part is funny, exactly. The fact that the owner of an on-site computer repair company doesn't have a spare 20-year-old part lying around? Or the fact that you found the real name of someone whose handle includes "Anonymous"?

Heck, on the site my handle is a spoof from (Slashdot,) my handle and my real name are linked. (Although now that I look, it has my old domain...)

Yes, that was it.

Yes, I realized that later when I Googled the name.

Have you got a replacement 5.25" drive yet? I'm about to test a Creative CM/S Gameblaster, and I would really like to mess about with the software on those disks you've got. Any chance please? 😀

I've purchased the CMS and prototype board from Anonymous Freak.

They are currently living on in my 286 which you can read about in the System Specs forum. 😀

But for those who asked, here are the contents of the floppies:

The first song disk has a pretty corny CGA demo:

There is also a Karaoke program

and an organ program. This is actually really hard to play compared to a real piano/keyboard, you have to hold Shift to play the black keys.

I belive these will work with a Sound Blaster with CMS chips but you'll need this driver
http://cloudschatze.googlepages.com/CMSDRV.com

Apparently the Intelligent Organ needs an update to work with Sound Blaster as well.

Give me a minute and I'll test it on the SB prototype... 😀

EDIT: confirmed, with the above driver the demo on song disk 1 works with the sound blaster. Tee standard CMS driver won't load with the sound blaster and the demo won't run.

Thanks very much for uploading these. I'm just going through all of my boxes of retro goodness, and getting the drivers and stuff for them, so these DLs were very useful. Thanks.
