So I've had one of these sitting around for a while now, dual P-Pro 200mhz with Win2k installed and wondered how it might do as a DOS games machine. what do you think?

My guess it'll be fine, but it depends on what gfx card/sound card it has?

I'm using two dual p pro machines myself for DOS/Win games:

The problem with a dual PPro box is that it's a small furnace and a power hog. And it may not outperform a lowly Pentium for games. The second CPU will be useless and many games aren't 32-bit which means PPro will run inefficiently with them.

For some things though you can definitely see a PPro kick a Pentium around. You can play Unreal on a PPro 200 with a Voodoo3 well enough. The game complains about missing MMX though (the sound system wants it).

I want somebody to get one of the PPro boards with the Intel 450xx Orion chipset and tell me all about it. 😁

Amigaz from Sweden "tells you" he has an intel 450xx chipset based PC...my compaq proliant 5000 😀

Web search suggests it will have Intergraph GLZ graphics, ie. opengl.

I remember running Quake 3 on a P3 with an Intergraph Intense 3D Pro 3410 [which is probably a later generation - it was 2 full length cards with a ribbon cable between and a metal stiffener along the top]. There were various glitches iirc, though Q3 ran fast enough.

Message received!! How do you like having like a chipset made up of like 10 separate chips? Does it ooze "industrial strength server" energy?

Well...the machine is huge

Too bad I never got to run it much after the PSU died when I had finally replaced it's noisy fans with Noctua fans but someday I'll replace it's PSU...at the moment it's gathering dust in my basement along with all other unused old computer crap

It won't work with a standard PSU then?

Thats one of THE reasons I avoid non-standard computer equipment...if something breaks, it takes the whole thing down with it 🙁

Most servers use proprietary PSU's 😜 .....even today
