Welcome and very nice build! I have to ask...do you have any compatibility problems with any dos games having that much ram installed?

For now i don't have any problems with games but i experienced a few issues with apps such as PCTools and IE, i can't install this one, it says that i need, at least, 4mb of ram and it just won't install, i guess it just don't like so much memory.
I have only two memory slots on this motherboard with a 64mb and a 32 mb simm, right now i'm considering changing the 64 mb simm for a 32mb and see what happens.

I really like that unique case you have there too. Don't see too many like that where the drive bays are at the bottom. Also I like the dual 1.44 floppy drives. Don't see that often either. I love redundancy 🤣.

This is a very unusual case and a small one too, i had to make a few adjustments inside to be able to have three hds in it but overall it quite nice.
I don't have space for a 5 1/4 floppy drive though 😢

Might be a good idea ...96mb is a bit overkill but to each his own. Whatever works for you. I also had some issues with some old application programs when I was running more than 32mb in an older socket 7 build of mine. Hard to say exactly what memory sensitive dos programs and games I have run into but I can say it's always been more when I had over 32mb installed and sometimes even when I've had more than 16mb installed. That's why I like to have separate builds for each era of operating systems but if you need to go with just one build for early windows and dos I think 32mb is enough for most earlier games and programs.

I agree, i think 32mb is more than enough but since i have a few simms left, i just use them, i'm the kind of person that don't like to have things lying around and not giving use to them (this happens a lot) 😵
Initially i had 2 x 16mb simms, then i swap one for a 32mb and end up with 48mb then another 32mb simm, total 64mb and a few months ago i get my hands on a 64mb simm, and i thought... well... why not... conclusion... not... i just notice that i can't install simtower on winodws because it says that i need true type fonts and it seems that this is a memory issue... it's a ussue alright because i use to play this one a lot in the same pc...

@paulo_becas - very cool. You can also try to incorporate some sort of custom bracket to the upper portion of the case to put the hdd there to free up an external bay, but it still looks very good the way it is.

I already did that, if you notice the upper bracket with the HD on, it's custom, i've got it from a case i had lying around i only have to made a few holes for it to fit there, i could put another HD on it but i had to remove the hd drawer and, at this time, i just don't feel the need for it.

The reason most cases aren't oriented like that is because heat rises and the PSU fan exhausts the heat from the top of the case. So unless there is some kind of ventilation in the top of that case, the overall inside temperature is probably higher than a typical-style case.

I have to admit that it is interesting though.

Here's the inside of my Win98/DOS box. Thanks to philscomputerlab and some followers I have on Twitch for inspiring me to get back to a dedicated platform for this (meaning I need ti save up for the Magewell/Timeleak card, as the followers wanna see DOS games from real hardware). This system is pretty sweet so far, but can always use improvements.

Specs:

Intel Pentium III-500 Katmai core
256MB PC-100 memory
Intel Seattle SEA440-BX motherboard
ASUS Geforce4 MX420 64MB card (NOT VBE-compliant..)
Creative 3D Blaster2 Voodoo2 12MB
Linksys LNE100TX Fast Ethernet
Turtle Beach Montego-II (AU8830)
Sound Blaster 16 (CT2290)
Gravis UltraSound PnP Pro.
Antec EarthWatts 400
Antec ONE case

Please forgive the clutter in the case.

This is a really interesting early Athlon build. It could be made into a good match for systems of the day simply by switching to Win98 and using a more period appropriate video card (GF 256, Matrox G400, TNT2). Any interest in going that direction?

All hail the Great Capacitor Brand Finder
