My Commodore 486DX-33 DOS 6.22 rig with:

* Tseng ET4000AX
* Audician 32 Plus soundcard
* 8MB RAM
* Original Commodore keyboard 😀
* HD size is on the picture
* Original 1930 monitor but threw it away because I think there was some problem with the VGA cable 😠

Nothing fancy but it does the job...

My MMX-233 with:

* S3 Virge 86C325 Fastware 2MB (hoping to upgrade it to 4MB if I can find the chips pretty cheap)
* Creative Voodoo2 12MB
* HD of course but forgot the size
* 64MB RAM
* AWE32 PnP (on the picture it's still with an AWE64 in it)
* Win95B

Just finished putting this together today. Had an old 775 board laying around with ram and a Pentium D. All I needed was an atx case which I found yesterday on the curb in the rain. I cleaned all the grime off 😵 took apart the case, washed it and dried it overnight. Today I started fitting everything. I recycled a psu from another case and the harddisk from a broken laptop into this build. Gonna load XP on it and run MAME. Im calling it Optimus Grime 🤣

Looks good. Specs?

I'm picky though and those missing bay covers would drive me nuts. 🤣

Pentium D @ 3.0ghz
Asus P5ND2-SLI motherboard
2GB Kingston DDR2 SDRAM
120GB WD Scorpio HDD
Philips DVD ROM Drive
Bestec 300W PSU
Unknown generic Atx case

Those empty bays bother me too 🤣 I'd like to fill that gap with a 120 fan somehow.

Super Socket 7 build

  • AMD K6-2+ 550
  • voodoo 3 agp (cpu bottle necks it just a tad 🤣)
  • 128mb pc100 ram
  • Turtle Beach Montego.
  • Mobo is a p5f93u with Ali 5 chipset.
  • HDD 32gb miniSD card with ide adapter.

The case came without any bay covers, switch, or turbo display so I got all of those separately and peaced the case together turned out nice imo. Been playing Unreal Tournament on it to test things out, Half life, Quake 3, Theif, and some coop Diablo 2 (glide of course) with my son. Just got another ss7 mobo in the mail today, and one more on the way to get 2 more up and running, mostly want to test comparisons between via, ali, and sis chipsets.

You could try finding a 2.8GHz Northwood and work your way from there.

Also,watch out as you have 2 bulging caps.

Here is the Dell Dimension XPS T600 I picked up on craigslist yestterday, 1 of 4 desktops for $30 total. The others were broken Dell Dimension 2400 which I gutted, a Dimension 8200 which I am installing XP on, and an AMD Sempron 3000+ that needs some work. But this XPS T600 was never opened until I got my hands on it. Cleaned it inside and out and it looks great.

Pentium III 600MHz, 512MB RAM, DVD-ROM + CD/RW drives, 3.5" floppy drive, IOMEGA Zip Drive, 13GB IBM 7200RPM HD, Windows 98SE, 3DFX VooDoo3 3000 16MB AGP, Turtle Beach Montego II A3D AU8830 PCI sound card, PCI ethernet, PCI 56K modem, ISA slot. Runs perfectly. Came with a Dell Quietkey keyboard but not the coveted one, just a meh rubber dome version.

Worth it just for the Montego II, but that's also a very nice Win98 machine.

I've been thinking of getting an ATX Mobo like the P4C Deluxe or an Abit IC7 so I can overvolt and attempt to push the clocks a bit higher. Right now this machine is only playing Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst and Jetfighter III
