The very first computer I bought new, with my own actual money (Celeron 633MHz) had a modern version of this case (rounded edges, updated look) but for the life of me, I can't find any pictures of it online...

Finished restoring this guy not too long ago, fun little Pentium 4 computer.

Pentium 4 - 2.80ghz - Socket 478
512MB PC133 RAM
80GB Seagate IDE HDD
512MB Jaton 3DForceXe-DVI (Nvidia 6200)

untitled_by_mad_king_corduroy-daziu0b.jpg

untitled_by_mad_king_corduroy-db0a6kj.jpg

Not really all that retro but I was kind of craving a Pentium 4 XP computer that was SFF so when I saw this in a scrap heap with the matching monitor, keyboard and mouse I just couldn't say no. 🤣

Check me out at Transcendental Airwaves on Youtube! Fast-food sucks!

Tualeron 1400
256mb sdram
Asus TUSC
80gb seagate hdd
Audigy with front panel

Case and such seems from reference "ASUS Terminator Tualatin"

Temporary untill i decide installed win xp sp3

now 2 opinions:
Put in geforce2 mx400 pci and let it be nice mid XP system or put in voodoo2 and let it be high end win98 system

some moar pics:

I remember this odd little case having an odd motherboard lacking any AGP. I was gifted one once but I ended up never using it due to its limitations.
But nice to see there's at least one still being used today 😀

It's a shame it only comes with 2 PCI slots. I thought a little about it, considered a bit removing the sound board and using the onboard one so you can use SLI, but air cooling might prove a bit problematic (I haven't opened up mine in a long time now but I remember it was very cramped).

Perhaps the PCI MX card is your best option now? It would still be a nice ME rig I think, but the options for that system for gaming is rather limited.

You don't happen to be in need of some NAS by any chance or something? 😜

Whats missing in your collections?

The PCI MX Cards are often crippled by very slow memory bus.. GeForce 2MX PCI with 32bit RAM and such Things.

Be aware what you buy 😀

Actually i found alternative solution which is VooDoo3 2000 pci.
But i like idea of retro nas 🤣

Thanks! Spent quite some time cleaning the case but the exterior didn't take too long. Magic erasers work wonders on scuffs and marks.

@oeuvre: beautiful job. Is that a Pentium Overdrive?

Thank you! Nah, just your regular Pentium 133MHz Socket 7 CPU. I think I might add a SCSI drive in the future and put 95 on it

The integrated HSF made me think it was an Overdrive. I didn't think regular P54 came with one.

Way I figure it, a retro rig is whatever you use to do retro PC stuff. That could just as easily include a pristine IBM 5150 PC, or DOSBox running on a 24-core Xeon with 32GB of RAM and quad-SLI GTX590's.

I like this definition! 😁

I second this definition! 😀

Here's my modest little XP build:

With just a pair of SanDisk X400 SSDs.
A couple of Western Digital Blacks.
A plain Dual Core E8400 (E0 Stepping) @ 3.0GHz.
A tiny little EVGA 750 Ti SC (with backplate).
Some G.Skill PC8000 DDR2 memory.
On a Gigabyte EP35-DS3R (Rev. 2.1) motherboard.
With some other stuff not really worth mentioning.

(...Oh, apart from a nice little Sound Blaster Audigy SB00900.)

Here it is, a tad younger, next to it's little brother:

Ooh! See how modest it is. It's even trying to hide behind it's big brother:

I've been doing this somewhat casually over the past 13 years. Let's start with the original - An old Compaq Deskpro obtained from my school back in 2004. I don't remember the exact specs for it, think it had a 2.1GB hard drive (which I think I still have to this day). I no longer have this computer, and since moved everything into another system. Originally it ran Windows 95, downgraded to 3.1, and then upgraded to 98/2000.

The current case for the system, since early 2005. Painted black, LED's switched out for red, orange, and amber. I still have this system to this day, it survived two moves (with some dents in the case) and one PSU explosion. It currently dual-boots Windows 98/2000 and Debian Wheezy (antiX 13.1).

This is where it's set up now. I am looking to replace the keyboard with a IBM Model M13 at some point.
