Hi All,

I'm back with another retro machine! This one is pretty cool.

Specs:

Dual Pentium Pro 200 (512k cache versions)
384MB EDO 72pin Ram
160GB SATA HDD connected to a RocketRaid 1520 PCI Controller
Matrox Millenium 8MB PCI Video Card
Windows XP Pro SP3 (hehe works okay!)

I'm probably going to replace the Video Card with a full 3D one at some stage.

I like the Socket 8 systems, rare, big & gold!

What do you plan to do with a dual cpu setup?

Im going to run a Pentium 2 overdrive in my system and add a Geforce 6200 pci, should make a good dos & decent win98 machine.

No real plans yet! It would be nice if there were some SMP games from that era but there aren't really any. I tried Quake 3 Demo with SMP enabled but it didn't seem to make any difference.

It runs Windows XP pretty well. Compared to my Pentium 166MMX which isn't even good in Windows 98. The dual CPU really helps with multitasking.

I'd love to get a pair of Pentium II overdrive chips that would help a lot I think. If I got that upgrade the system would probably work fine for most tasks.

You can easily max out both CPUs, but I think it runs better than a faster MHz single Pentium 2.

Long term plan is:
Dual Pentium II 333MHz Overdrives
Raid 1 160GB SATA
Voodoo 5 5500 PCI or 2xVoodoo 2 SLI (not really enough PCI ports for that)
Might go back to Windows 2000

That would make the ultimate dual machine!

Just got myself a pair of 333MHz PII Overdrive CPUs for it!

I'll need to do some testing.

Very nice, what are the fsb options on this board? A 6200 is a bit overkill and lacking a little in compatibility with 16bit color support.

I run Win2k server on my pr440fx board (1GB RAM and dual 333 overdrives). The system used to be an FTP server back in 2000 when I put it together, very reliable for years running 24/7. Think I original had a Voodoo 3 2000 in it, maybe a Matrox Millenium II these days.
