I just reassembled the old computer from my friend, Fake IBM ThinkCentre (NetVista A30). This is my second "new retro" machine after Zyrex PC. Oh yeah, why I call this fake ThinkCentre? Because the mobo had 845G which is still NetVista meanwhile ThinkCentre must has 865G chipset! 🤣

Here's the picture:

It's boot BLIZTERING FAZT to Windows XP!!!

I want to upgrading this system for better performance and retro gaming experience.

For processor, the 2.8 GHz are just enough for me.

For video card, the Intel Extreme Graphics are just not enough for me. There is three choice for video card upgrade, should I go to GeForce FX 5600, GeForce 6600, or GeForce 7600GT? But GeForce FX 5600 are cheaper ($28 ) but GeForce 7600GT are most expensive ($66). But I am doubt if this computer had 250W PSU so which is my good choice for this PC?

For sound card, I rather go to ASUS Xonar DG because it give better sound than Audigy.

For RAM, I'm not sure how much maximum memory are. It said that only support up to 1GB RAM, however the 845G supporting max. 2GB. However 1GB module are works properly, so I will upgrade to 2GB.

For HDD, I have installing Samsung SpinPoint 40GB. But I want something is better. Which is good brand? Seagate, WD, or Hitachi? 160GB IDE was enough for this PC.

For cooling, I want Scythe Shuriken Rev. B installed on this PC. However the motherboard had defects is caps located too close with retenstion bracket so I unable to install cooler with stock bracket.

Any suggestion?

Most games which can be played on this machine works also on a new machine. So don't overspend for extra performance!

Errr, what about DX 8.1 games? It doesn't handle them well, so FX5600 enough for this machine?

And this machine had SoundMAX audio which it has unique MIDI emulation (XGLite and General MIDI but not like MS Synthesizer) make onestop.mid sound weird unless if I using DLS loader.
