This thread is for showing the viability of the 9600Gt when used in a dual core Socket 939 configuration for Windows Xp gaming, to give an idea of performance scaling when used with lower end dual core configurations. System is an SLI configuration, but test will involve the use of one 9600 GT only.

The reason why I chose the 9600 GT for this thread was due to its popularity upon release. The bang for buck ratio of the card was quite nice all things considered. I could have went with a Radeon HD 5770, 8800GTS, GTX 280, or Radeon HD 4830, but it seemed proper to give this card a go considering how well liked it was a few years back. Anyway, back to the test:

system specs:
A64 X2 3800+ at stock speed
Asus A8N-Sli Deluxe
two 9600 GT in sli
Creative Audegy Se
Ageia Physx Pci card
2 gb DDR 400 in dual channel
two SATA 80 gb hard drives
Win XP Pro SP3
BFG 650 watt psu
Chenming full size ATX case (the one used by Antec and Chieftec for the Dragon line)

I built a 939 rig not to long ago with an 8800gt. i did keep that 9600 from that build and put it in a newer build with a phenom 6 core as the 6 core machine doesn't need a beefy gfx yet but, to compensate i flashed the 9600gt with following clocks core 804, shader 2010, Vram 1105 then installed the new 314 drivers and it bumped the fps in BioShock infinite. I wish i had mroe use for the 939 machine because more or less that's what really ushered me in to pc gaming after i got my first job back when BioShock just came out + it's still really usable.

You have a great XP rig. I like the A8N SLI too - the heart of my own XP box from 2005> With a pair of 7800gt in SLI really smoked at the time. I recently re-assembled most of it as a game rig for my brother, but bumped it up to a Athlon 4400+. Your pair of 9600gtx must really fly.
