I built universal PC with Windows XP SP3, Windows 98 SE with DOS 7.1.

Works Windows old games (Flight Unlimited for Windows 95), Dos games with SB 16 emulation on SB Live!

My configuration:

Case: Cooler Master elite 331

Power supply: Chieftec GPS-350EB-101A 350W

Motherboard: ASROCK 775i65G R3.0

CPU: Intel Dual Core E5800 3.2 GHz

GPU: EVGA GeForce 6800 128MB AGP

RAM: KINGSTON HYPERX KHX3200AK2/2G - 2GB RAM

Sound: Creative Sound Blaster LIVE 5.1 SB0100 PCI

3 x disk Hitachi: 80 GB, 120 GB, 200 GB

CD-ROM: LG 52x ATAPI

FDD: NEC 3.5"

For me ASROCK 775i65G R3.0 is the best, because it works a lot of processors on this motherboard http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/775i65G%20R3.0 … .pl.asp?cat=CPU. The CPU intel E5800 is very fast as for AGP board, I tried Intel Dual Core E6800 3.33 GHz, but it didn't want to work after computer restart.

My Geforce 6800 AGP benchmark 3DMark2001 SE default settings - 26297
My Geforce 5900 XT Benchmark 3DMark2001 SE default settings - 7939

Computer takes about 180 - 260 Watts of power.

CPU performance

For old Windows games and DOS games important is only one core performance.

As You can see Intel Pentium 4 and Pentium D is very weak against Intel Core 2 Duo and Pentium Dual Core.

If you overclock Pentium Extreme hard enough, it can get close to Q6600 2,4GHz @ 2 Cores score : LINK ;D
I'm GUESSING results are from latest PES CPU test.

If I put the Pentium Dual Core or Core 2 Duo on this RAMPAGE EXTREME board, I will get extreme results for these processors much better then on AGP boards. This is PCI-E board and special for overclocking.

I don't think Windows 98 run on this motherboard.

Now that gives me an interesting idea... thank you 😀

Reward, a future upgrade for universal machine 😉

I still haven't fine time to test my X800/X850 cards, but I can show quick test of Radeon 9500 and then Softmoded 9500@9700. All HW in build is compatible with Windows 98, in the mean time I just replace C2Q 6600 for Pentium E6500K.
