Hi all,
I was originally going to start out with my 486 build (and PSU re-capping) but this 386 fell into my lap, so why not start here?
The initial power-up and cleaning I posted here:
Bought these (retro) hardware today
Specs:
- Intel 386SX-20MHz
- 6MB RAM (6x1mb simms)
- Cirrus Logic CL-GD5424 Video Card
- Unknown IO Controller Card
- Creative CT3670 Sound Blaster 32 (w/2mb)
- 4.3GB IDE HDD (Quantum Fireball SE)
- 3.5" 1.44mb Floppy
- 5.25" 1.2mb Floppy (not working atm)
- Acer 620A003 20x IDE CD-ROM
The case is in really good shape, and everything inside was dusty but original. My crappy phone camera really doesn't do it justice.
The only thing I plan to change in the future is replace the HDD with a CF to IDE adapter (shipping is like...6-8 weeks... yaaay China shipping)
Sidenote, this is my favourite LCD to use on old systems. Nice bright 4:3 aspect ratio, decent built-in speakers (with a proper rotary volume control).
