Welcome! Really awesome system 😀

Last year I was offered the opportunity to buy an entire Quantum3D system with one of those cards, up and running. But I thought this was way too much money for the little I would possibly do with it. So I passed. A part of me always regretted that, of course 😉

I've read that usability of the card is very limited when it comes to games, compatibility is pretty poor, as is driver support. What were your experiences in that regard?

END OF LINE.

Great system indeed. There were times when AAlchemy boards were available on ebay from time to time and not that expensive (just cards, not PSU)... unfortunately these times are long gone.

btw - I don't think This monster even support D3D, so no 3dmark. There are only rather limited OGL and Glide drivers. But AAlchemy can run for example Quake 3 Arena as far as I know...

Thank you!

The difference to a V5500 is that there are no D3D drivers for this card (so no 3DMark). For D3D-games I can use the Elsa nVidia Quadro card - it's a GeForce256 DDR with higher clock and RAM speed and 64MB. It's just OpenGL (which it was intended for), SimGL (proprietary API of Quantum3D) and Glide3. For Glide2 games I copied the dll of the Amigamerlin Win2K-driver to the System32 directory.

Here a first compatibility check:

Glide (Amigamerlin Glide2-dll copied to "Windows/System32"):
- Unteal incl. Return to Na Pali
- Turok
- Hitman
- Earth 2150
- Messiah

OpenGL:
- Half-Life (3Dfx MiniGL)
- Hitman
- GLQuake
- Return to Castle Wolfenstein

When idle the system takes 250W, while rendering with the Aalchemy (8x AA) about 320W.
