I am building a similar pc but with an X58 supercomputer.

I have switched the SATA controller to compatible mode. How did you handle the sata?

In compatible if I plug a random pci express card into the first X16 slot, the motherboard blocks the boot by giving me an error on the primary master (hard disk)

Also I want to try the drivers for X58 https://www.modlabs.net/files/experimental-in … rs#.Y7oqUC_SJE4

I used IDE Compatible on Marvell (Rampage II Extreme).
It simply worked fine for me, I didn't have your issue (with first PCI-e blocking boot, resource conflict ?).
Maybe Audigy is the issue here (forcing certain IRQ, and blocking other devices from sharing it ?)

I didn't used any 3-rd party drivers for 98, so I can't judge them.

@Intel486dx33 No OPL3/High quality MIDI = a "no go" for me for DOS games.
With triple+ OS boot you don't really need a working pendrive.
I simply downloaded stuff on XP to 98 partition/drive, restart, and I have things on my Win98 drive.
As for trasfering files between this and some other PC in home (assuming no WinXP and later ones), I think CompactFlash is most reliable method (with CF to IDE adapter connected to front panel or back one [depending what easier to implement]), and the least prone to mess up something else (as you don't need to modify old OS'es to work with it).

4) GTX 780 Ti will not work with 7900 GTX on Windows 98SE (if moded drivers are used).
Reason : NV driver falls apart if it sees 512MB of VRAM and another card. Unplugging GTX 780 Ti solves this issue.

Just noticed this, maybe you can apply the RLoew 512MB NVIDIA VGA BIOS patch, done that to my 7900GTX because it would hang at Windows boot or hanging the shutdown process after the soft patch. It saves the original BIOS, patches the BIOS and then flashes the patched BIOS.

Under XP: GTX1650 and TPM encryption, it does not recognize these even with modded drivers. Also, there is a VESA driver for the GTX, it works, but it does not include the device ID.
The point is that the retro QFX3450-3500 works.
Win98: essential things work, e.g. USB with question mark, keyboard+mouse works regardless, modern lights too.

Hi, nice setup. Where did you get the PCI riser you are using for Voodoos?

Hi, thanks!
I ordered from: https://es.aliexpress.com/item/10050052605487 … c%21HU%21%21ABS
I bought both the 1 PCI and 2 PCI versions, the former for the sound card, they all work well.
