So I guess floppies come in 3 flavours ..
Super slim - slim - regular
The slim and super slim are the same width but different thickness ..
as shown in the pic
left to right as above..

Generally yes, three general flavours (plus a very rare 4th "fullheight" where with full height they mean as high as the old 5 1/4 ones were, they are very rare).

Also referred to as "full height", "2/3rds", and "1/3rds" drives. Most slim drives (the ones in the middle, also getting kinda rare) have the normal 34-pin connectors, some have 26-pin flat connectors like yours.

The slim drives werent on the market for very long and were quickly superceded by the super slim drives. Hence they are getting kind of rare depending on the bezel.

Most laptops that used the middle variant were produced between 1990 (when they were invented) up till 1992-1993-ish.

Im working to make my Compaq AP550 Pro working, as the PSU have issues from previous idiot owners...
To build my very first 386 DX machine (as i did have before SX based..) but i lack the good 386 case type with turbo button and LED display...
Secondary Socket 7 with CyriX CPU
To rebuild my Slot 1 system with this time fixed ABIT BE6 or ASUS P3B-F, as the first need recaping, and the second i need to wait some time to get it without to have to pay for shipping...

I can also build Slot A system, but no space where to put it so maybe it will stay in the boxes...
Socket 939 Opteron and LanParty Ultra-D need some parts, but i lack them, so they stay like that for now..

My socket 462 machine miss some final things to be 100% completes, but at least they are minors..

Also if i find proper PSU, GPU, case, i will be able to build AOpen DX34R-U dual tualatins, as i really don`t like PGA 370, i even hate this damn useless platform, but i like much the Tualatin architecture and the processors..

Mah systems retro, old, newer (Radical stuff)
W3680 4.5/ GA-x58 UD7/ R9 280x
K7 2.6/ NF7-S/ HD3850
IBM x2 P3 933/ GA-6VXD7/ Voodoo V 5.5K
Cmq P2 450/ GA-BX2000/ V2 SLI
IBM PC365
Cmq DeskPRO 486/33
IBM PS/2 Model 56

Maybe Vipersan, you should rename the thread title so it doesn't give off the impression of being another "Current retro activity"-thread 😀

As we have come to mainly revolve around your T5200/T3200SX machines in this thread, maybe something like "Help me pimp my T5200" or something 😁

I think we might have too ..🤣
No disrespect intended ..but This thread is primarily about a couple of retro machines I'm working on .
But mainly focussed on the T5200/100 now.
I'll rename it if neccessary ..but would prefer that it was left concentrated on the T5200 since there is valuable info in here that may well get lost along the way.

Thanks for the pics

A couple of things I noticed so far:
The Paradise VGA chip is PVGA1A on mine and PVGA1A-JK on yours - this might indicate a later revision of the chip that requires the 32K VGA bios and won't work with the 24K one.

There is an electrolytic cap close to the CPU and Co-processor socket which is missing on all 3 of mine but when I upgraded the CPUs I had stability issues until I fitted an electrolytic cap in that area so I guess it was a known issue that was fixed in the later PCB revision.

So ..It's Sunday and I have some free time ..
I thought I'd make a start on opening the T3200SX with cracked screen ..
The Plasma panel has been removed to reduce weight whilst working..
and I finally got a peek inside ..
See photos.
It doesn't look as easily accessible as the 5200/100
Is the top half of this unit unpluggable/removeable ?
The cables dont look plugin and one snakes away towards the psu ..and I've no idea whats on the end ?
The screen data plug ..errr..doesnt look like a plug ? see the other pic.
Advice from someone who has taken one apart before would be appreciated.
I dont just want to go pulling on things and damaging anything..
at least the RTC battery looks accessible.
No Idea how compatible the floppy drives are between 3200 and 5200 yet as I can't fully expose it.

You are on the right way.
First detach the screen (you already did it).
Then unscrew the cable guide (dead centre of last picture).
Afterwards you are able to guide the cables back through the uncovered hole.

The power cables are not detachable therefore you have to unscrew the cable guide to be able to lift of the top by leaving the cables in place.

If you like I'll flash you a modded bios when they arrive.
but you will have to exercise some patience.

The only problem seems to be the enter key. I have to press it firmly (maybe hold it just a second) before it registers. Also the left alt seems off. Ctrl Alt Del works with the left alt key, but left-alt F to open a menu in the Borland IDE didn't work. I had to use right-alt.

So exciting that this appears to have been a real workhorse of a computer used for serious business!

(I'm sorry if I'm going off-topic, I just thought you all might find what's on this old beast interesting...)

Maybe... If I can afford it, I'd be happy to pay the expenses for the parts, burning and shipping, plus a little for his time.

Time for a break and something to eat ..
but did take the time to test the 3200 keyboard in the 5200 ..
It works fine ..but like the 5200 keyboard ..and Hambys ...there are some dead-ish unresponsive keys..
but if all else fails I have enough spare key switches now to make a fully functional Keyboard for the 5200.
If I can then use the T3200SX with an external keyboard ..
Which I believe is possible ..then the lesser functioning KB will end up in that unit.
Does anyone know what is involved in using a 3200 with an external KB ?
