Nice! That's going to be a sweet machine once it's all done

Thanks! Took a while to get everything together the way I want. I have a extra mobo, riser card and psu to hopefully enjoy it for a long time.

Once I crack it open again for the new cpu I’ll swap out the ide card for a sata card to run the ssd. After that it’ll be dialed in.

Great work!
I am currently working on an Aptiva project myself.
Did you swap out the IDE card for the SATA?
I currently have a different SATA pci card with the same chipset (VIA VT6421A).
It doesn't get detected by the bios, but works fine in Windows 98 after I install the drivers.
Was hoping to boot from it, so I am curious if you have better luck with your pci card 😀

I’ll be going at it hopefully this week with my new parts. I’ll find out and let you know. Until I did a bios update I was having issues. What model do you have?

My system is a 2176 which originally came with a P120 and 16 MB Ram.
I recently upgraded the motherboard to a IBM 93H7122 version (which came in 2161 and 2162 models I think).
As far as I know, this is the latest motherboard that physically fits in our cases without modifications (and works with the same risers).
This board has the option to overclock to 75Mhz FSB, but the IDE controller becomes unstable at that speed, so I am looking for an alternative that also removes the detectable 8GB limit. 😉
Current specs:
Pentium 200 MMX (233 is coming soon)
40GB IDE HDD (only 8GB in use)
64MB SD-Ram
Voodoo Banshee
AWE32 Soundcard
3COM Network-card

430HX/P1 233MMX/64MB/S3VirgeDX,Voodoo1SLI(King Shaman)/AWE32

That looks great!

This is with the IOFLEX-PIR133 without using any DDO?

I mainly use my Aptiva for dos retro gaming, so if any windows drivers are required to use the disk, I need to find a different solution 😉

Some ipa cleaning and it’s in very good condition. It lived it’s whole life in one pc until now. Lots of caked on dust from just sitting for 20+ years. Glad to see it able to achieve its former glory. Now time to enjoy it and to try and expand its memory somehow.

New cpu and card install

Overdrive popped in easily. Fan is noticeably louder.

Now bios shows “opd” for cpu. 66.6 fsb via jumper settings gets me 200mhz.

Sound card sits pretty in there and easy install. Downloaded install discs iso from vogons page.

That card came out beautiful. Nice find with the simmconn

Sound card came out great! You never know, but this one was a gem. The memory expansion card and 32mb edo stick will make it feel complete.

On the other hand the overdrive cpus neat heat sink assembly is loud compared to my near silent noctua solution before… wish it was quieter
