The score seems pretty close, only a difference of 0.67% which is meaningless in practice however 3d mark 2003 ONLY takes into account the game tests when calculating the score! However I decided that I will take into account the sound tests as a separate result! Please note that only AN7 can do the test with 60 sounds as KW7 can not perform it so I did not include that in the final score!
The difference between nforce2 and kt880 in the sound tests is absolutely HUGE: 16.13% with no sound and 34.09% with 24 sounds! And keep in mind that it was performed at 1600*1200!

IMHO 3dmark 2005 is too powerful and too new for this system in general and the geforce 7800gs in particular. This is the first time KT880 scores a win at 1280*1024 resolution, very small but still a victory!

In this test which was requested by swaaye VIA has serious problems in 2d and is strongly limiting the geforce 7800gs. Web browsing on the VIA system is much slower than on Nvidia; this could be a serious drawback for some users.

In the CPU test the difference is within the margin of error however in the RAM test 6.47% is significant and has effects in the "real world". FYI I also tested a KV7 - VIA KT600 system with the rest being the exact same hardware and software and there is practical no difference between it and the KT880 - dual channel does not bring any tangible improvements!

The first of the game tested is Doom 3. This particular games is exceptionally GPU bound therefore I disabled AA in order to obtain meaningful results but all other settings are at the highest level. As with the other tests the first 2 runs have been discarded and the third has been saved.
