So far ..so good ..
just bought a job lot of 2.5" ide pata hard drives ..
1x10gb
2x20gb
1x30gb
2x40gb
1x60gb
1x80gb
laptop pulls ..untested..
some may be knackered ..
but £8.50 including poatage
Thats a £1 each and some risk..
Even if I get 50% of them viable..thats a good deal.
😁
The problem with old high hour hard disks is that they make a lot of noise. Especially in a laptop that would be a reason for me to buy new old stock or if possible upgrade to SSD or CF card. You can still get new 40gb 2.5'' for ca. € 20 on epay.
Totally agree regarding used drives ...but if these are checked and prove viable ...I'm happy to build the OS on a used drive..as often this is only a tempoary measure anyway.
I guess I'm a bit OCD insofaras I RAW image hard drives ,,and store the image away.
That way I can avoid rebuilding the OS in the event of HD failure.
Just a clone image to a replacement HD avoids the heartache of losing everything.
