So I'll have pictures later, tomorrow likely, but here are the specs, I call it THE86-OVERPOWERED

Core i5 3470
Vostro 270 B75 Motherboard
2x2GB OCZ Gold DDR3 1333 7-7-7
EVGA GTX 275 SuperClocked
500GB HDD
750GB HDD
Windows XP

Not sure how much more overpowerd for a pure XP gaming build one could get, I mean I guess a GTX 580 and an i7 3770 but thats just semantics 🤣

...But can it run Crysis? 🤣

Re: Great PC! But can it run Crysis?

PS. Mine has an only an Opteron 180 and DDR 4GB RAM, but a somewhat better GPU: GTX 560Ti. It's not only an XP retro(?) box though, also my secondary main rig.

It should be able to run Crysis, and yea my secondary is a 15in XPS with a GTX 1050 and an i7 7700HQ 🤣

I'm tempted to swap the 275 for a 280, but not sure its worth it, the 275 uses less power but should be just as fast 🤣.

I'd say your GTX 560 is bottlenecked, no way my 275 should be faster, but I noticed this with my X2 4200 @ 2.5, a 9800GT SLI was just as fast as a 9800GT without SLI, massive cpu bottleneck. Heck my 7900GTX's are bottlenecked on the X2 4200, 3dmark06 for instance climbed from 5773 to 8139, while with a Core 2 my single card score is almost the same, but SLI should be closer to 11k

Built a Dell T5500 precision with an eVGA GTX 280, 12gb of DDR3 ECC RAM and dual Xeon E5620 cpus (16 cores including HT) on Windows XP 64bit with an Intel SSD.

It was silly fast but I admit that it dualboots to Windows 10. So far everything I tried on XP runs on 10 with minimal effort. I barely use XP anymore since most new software no longer is supported. 🙁

The funny part is, I bought this beast at work for $60 three years ago.

I'm sorry, but I can't bring myself to call Your PC "OP" for XP, when my main rig can do this 😁

As for XP limits with driver modding I could use a Titan X (Maxwell) and after adding OC'ed Xeon E5 1680 v2 would have ultimate XP PC 😎

It's obvious from the past and present test results. Going upwards from GTS250 to GTX560Ti (only upgrade between the tests) adds a few fps to the older results, and that's all. Consequently, it is not only "slower than your 275", but also "as fast as my 250". 🤣

1680x1050 High: from 31.34 fps to 34.51 fps
1280x1024 High: from 35.88 fps to 38.66 fps

Just out of curiosity, are there any PC games that actually need a system that powerful (Core ix) to run smoothly yet refuse to run properly on Windows versions newer than XP?

Also, ignore what I've said earlier about this being better than my PC (in terms of CPU generation, at least), I've managed to pick up an Ivy Bridge-era Dell to replace my HP DC7800. 😎

Nope, but i use it at work to blend in with the other bussiness class machines to get some gaming in at the office 🤣.
