Here it is in all its glory. Ordered a CF to IDE adapter + 4GB CF card, new CMOS battery, and a 64MB stick of RAM. Fun little thing. First Toshiba owned. And of course...

Nice one! I own a Tecra 8000 which is *very* similar to this. It has 300 MHz and a NeoMagic graphics card, but specs are the same otherwise. Installed WinME on it for testing, but it will most likely end up getting 98SE.

Sweet, any pictures of yours? Now I see the appeal of old Toshiba laptops. Built well, somewhat decent keyboards, quirky design, screen isn't bad for its time either.

I have never heard of a CDM model until this thread was posted, nor have I ever heard of Toshiba sticking a Virge inside their laptops back in the day. That's one neat machine, it can probably run older 3D accelerated games like a charm.

The main battery is dead. I left it unplugged oeuvrenight and it retained the date/time settings so I'm thinking maybe the CMOS battery might actually be working.

Thanks for the compliments... it runs a lot of older games and SNES + Genesis emulation quite nicely. Once I upgrade the drive to a CF card it'll be even better. How's your Lifebook?

It's pretty good, all I really need for it really is a replacement battery and a CMOS battery, but the replacement batteries are pretty pricey 😢

It looks great. Turned out really nice.

I've noticed that you are using a different logo than the one you showed before (https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/AiwAAOSwuLZY7MNn/s-l1600.jpg).
Currently I have my Tecra and my Satellite disassembled (Warning: Leaking BIOS/CMOS/Resume Batteries Damaging Laptops) and I'm waiting for a chinese adapter to connect laptop hardrives to USB that I bought a few weeks ago to arrive. As soon as I'm able to connect the hardrives, I will try to look for that logo.

I'm not from Argentina, but I usually go to local flee-markets (during the weekend) and I check the local ads in websites that people use to sell their junk (some countries have Craigslist, other countries have Olx, other countries have other websites). You also need luck.

The right one you want is PA2444U

That's what I bought for mine, genuine Toshiba $9 shipped on eBay.

That's NOT an 18v power adapter. Will it work okay ?

Works perfectly fine on mine.

Also got the CF to IDE adapter and it runs quite faster than before.

This toshiba tecra 750DVD is a Cadillac compared to my IBM 380.
I will do a detailed comparision later.

That 750DVD looks to be the top of the line in 1997 (correct me if I'm wrong), would very much like to see more of it. I'm curious now, was the 780 series the flagship Tecra in 1998?

Toshiba seem to have been "the" company for latops round the P2 era.
I've got 2, A Satellite 4090cds here in the UK and Satellite Pro something back in oz, not to mention fair few I've come across abandoned in server rooms in both countries.
Always grey and built to last.
P3 laptops start to get a bit more varied.
