And ICH10 motherboard may have a problems in Win9X and DOS (games).

XP supports up to 32 logical processors. Whether you feel the difference solely depends on the applications you use, not on the OS.
However, you are correct with RAM. XP can not use more than 4 GB (pre-SP2 supported PAE, but that was removed, as it wasn't stable). Only the 64-bit edition does, but that's more or less a rebranded Windows Server 2003 anyway.
I say XP - I mean Games which are appropriate to run under XP. This forum is for gamers, right? If I say 98 - I mean Games which are appropriate to run under 98. And etc about OSes, OS == its games (its era games, its much adapted games). OK?
OK, I repeat exactly: XP era games don't use 4 cores effectively. Later games which can use 4-6 cores effectively are adapted for Win7+, for RAM 8GB+, for DX10+... What do you want to see more?
I have to put this build on hold until I receive the NEW 755 motherboard, CPU and fan.
Maybe next week I can resume and complete.

Really? You know, if I could read only fool official information I would never build any interesting PC. Only stereotyped dull PCs.
See:
1) ICH7 has unofficial Win98/ME driver which is working perfectly. ICH8+ has not.
2) Windows 7/8 doesn't need any Intel or third-party driver for ICH7 chipset.
I am going to build a Pentium-3 Audio / Gaming build later.
With some of the same sound cards. In that build I will use Win98se.
I think it is best to use WinXP for this build because of the software and driver support.
Okay, I completed the upgrade and the computer performs much better now.
Everything works. Using OEM and Win-XP vanilla drivers.
I really like this variety of sound cards. They have good play back, clarity treble and bass.
And good EQ apps.

I really like the variety of sounds coming from these cards.
Terratec has good Clarity.
Sound blaster Audigy 2zs has good bass too.
Turtle beach Vortex-2 has nice 3D sound.
Yamaha has good treble and bass combo.
Realtek has good sound.
And they all have good EQ apps.
A Nice variety of sounds for games and multimedia.
I have a bunch of PC demo games I picked up to use with this computer.
