Here is my Winter Holiday computer restoration build.
It's a Gateway Select with AMD Athlon 900mhz.
Nothing says "All American Winter Holiday's" like a Gateway computer.
These are true "Americana."
This computer is made of heavy steel frame construction.
It is a tool less case and very easy to work on and repair.
Performance is good and runs quiet.
The fans are fairly quiet.
I am going to keep this computer setup over the Winter and load it with all my favorite Holiday Season stuff.
I might change out the graphics for an AMD graphics card.

Specs:
Gateway motherboard with Via Chipset ( P/N: 2508783 Gateway Oxnard MS-6330, AMD Athlon Socket A
Up to 1.3GHz CPU )
CPU - AMD K7 Athlon 900mhz.
Ram - 356mb.
Graphics - Nvidia Geforce MX440 AGP
Audio - Sound Blaster live !
Modem - 56k Coneaxent
Network - AMD 100mb.
Hard-drive - Seagate 40gb.
OS - Windows 98se
Manufacture date - 9/23/2000

It actually has a license key for Windows ME but Windows 98se installs Vanilla too.
No additional drivers needed for the motherboard.

At least you're using your own photos rather than mostly stock photos this time.

Anyways, this is a very nostalgic build to me. That classic Gateway case design brings back memories of the late-9x and early-XP eras of computing.

Quick question: Why do you have two DVD-ROM drives installed? I could understand of one was a regular DVD-ROM and the other was a CD-RW/DVD combo drive of some sort, but since both of those drives appear to be DVD-ROM, I don't see a practical use for such a setup. In those days, most systems came configured with one DVD-ROM drive and a CD-RW drive as the secondary optical drive. Dual DVD-ROM drives is kinda odd to me.

Yeah, This is the best Gateway I have. My 486 Gateways are a Pain to work with.
The original CD-ROM drive was broken during shipping. So I just stuck a DVD drive in it which is the same type as in the original gateway.

This case is very nice in most ways.
It had substantially good airflow compared to contemporary cases (12cm exhaust was basically a first for such a case, afaics) and it's of good quality.
The only irky thing about this case is the way the PSU is mounted by this green clip.
If the PSU is still in good shape (considering its age), it's a good fit for your rig.

Mine came with a s370 board.

Nice build, I like it 😀

I would recommend however, to add a 12cm exhaust fan into the case even though it's probably not needed considering the parts you got in it now. Athlon 900 didn't get very hot, but that empty spot just begs for a slower moving 12cm fan. The fan would also help offset some of the heat that the PSU would have to endure, as the PSU is an obvious weakspot in this build.

Time to bring out my Winter Holiday's build computer.
Any Ideas on how to make this better ?
I am going to add some case fans for sure.
Maybe better graphics card.

tape some wrapping paper around it and stick a bow on top. Maybe stick some dollar store decorations on it to make it go faster.

Intel486dx33, wow. I was pretty sure you were going to build a new Christmas computer each year, seizing the opportunity of making new threads and all... You surprised me here! 🤣

You haven't said what Christmas themed games you ended up playing on this and any issues with them so get the feeling this is upgrading for upgrading sake.
so..
Upgrade the CPU to the max 1.3GHz
Upgrade the soundcard to an Audigy 2 ZS or try a non creative card just for something different.
Install a different OS like Me or 2k as a holiday project.

Also as this is your holiday build, you should use red and green led fans.

It already has a Sound Blaster Live 5.1 card but I did not install the live drive . So I might remove a DVD drive and add a live drive.
