You may need to change the thread title now. Maybe battle of the USA branded 486s or something like that. I'd be willing to participate in that.

I am just bench marking "Made in USA" ( Motherboard , CPU , and RAM )
The IBM PS/1 motherboard location of manufacture I am unsure of. I don't see a label on the motherboard.
The CPU is IBM Blue lighting Made in USA by Cyrix.
The RAM is "texas instruments" made in USA.
Or
MT ( Micron technology ) Made in USA.

Really scratching now aren't you? Title reads Battle of the Made in U.S.A 486 computers. Yet the content is just components.

Yeah, I like the cases too but the motherboards are terrible !.
The bios is really flakey and the PSU is really loud.

So the IBM PS/1 is my favorite 486 OEM computer.

The first one looks like another Young Microsystems board.
The second one looks like a PCChips M396. I really doubt that one is made in the USA. Probably doesn't matter as I think the battery already destroyed some traces.

I'd like to know more about them too. From what I gather is that they were either a Taiwan company, or Taiwanese but based out of California. They seem to have appeared around 1990 and disappeared around 1993. I've seen their chipsets for 386 and 486 boards, and their chipsets seem to be pretty good (and fast). They were a favourite of DTK for a while, and I often see them on Young Microsystem boards. Symphony was successful enough that they developed their own 387 FPU, but it never came to market. They also developed an EISA chipset, but they were bought out by VIA (probably in 1993), and I am somewhat certain that their EISA chipset was released as a VIA product. I'm not really sure if any of the other symphony technology was used in VIA products though.

Some read UK and others read USA ?

What about PS/2 ?
I also have a Gateway 2000 486 with Micronics motherboard.
And a DELL 486 with a sticker that reads “Made in USA”

Where was the motherboard made that is in that Dell? My guess is Taiwan.

I have to fix that computer. Something is blown. Maybe the power supply or motherboard issue.
But I think that motherboard was made in USA. Maybe Texas. At least assembled in USA. Has Headland component.
