I had a spare case and Mainboard so i startet another system build.
This time i want a setup what is between a pure dos and a 3dfx win98se system. It should be AT/ATX and socket 7 (no ss7).
As OS i choose Win95. For the 3d it has a Matrox M3d and a Diamond voodoo 1 card installed.
It should run early DOS 3d stuff like Tomb Raider, and also some win95 games.
As Main GPU i will use a Matrox G450 PCI. System has 256MB SD Ram installed with a SIL3114 sata controler and 500GB SSD.
For the Sound i choose a CT 1750 with dsp 4.05.
Will see if this work out because they got some temps there.. For the cooling i add a 120 fan on the front, hopping this will do it.

Parts:

MB: Asus TX97 XE Rev 3.01- intel 430TX chipset
CPU: Pentium 233 MMX
RAM: 2x 128MB SD-Ram
3d: Diamond Voodoo1 + Matrox M3d
GPU: Matrox G450 PCI
Sound: Soundblaster 16 - CT 1750
HDD: SIL3114 with 500GB SSD
PSU: be quite! 400W

Nice to see you have glide AND M3D covered, Even if not many games benefit from the latter its nice to have the option 😀

Its a nice option for sure, but the nec chip get hot as creazy. Not sure this is normal. But even with a heatsink you cant touch it for long. The card itself work normal but i add a fan again.. Cant understand retail the board has no cooling.

I also will switch the mainboard to a Asus TX97 XE because the layout of the the cpu on the fic is stupid. You cant really install long boards because the cpu is in the way.

For now i finished the build. I did a recap of the MB and the Soundcard. Also switched the case. I can confirm that the SIL3114 controller has working driver for windows95.
So far anything is working perfect. It was really very smooth installation. Another Asus board i really like. Tested some Tomb Raider with 3dfx and powerVR.
