Hello there,
taking inspiration
from Retro Xeon Rig - 38-year-span (PC) and 13-year-span (Mac) software supported *without* use of emulation this post.
I've read mostly negative feedbacks around here about the FX5200 PCI card.
I know most reviews and opinions revolve around DOS and Windows XP while my main goal is to use it under pure Windows 98, in a multiboot config with both a dedicated card for XP and one for DOS.
In case It Is not the optimal choice I'd like to know what would be a good replacement PCI card to fill that niche:
-best performance under Windows 98
-good support under directX 7 and 8
-no need to have good support for DX 9 (that should be talent care by Windows XP with a dedicated PciE card)
-no need for top noth DOS compatibility (that problem should be taken care by the integrated Intel GMA 4500, which i read around here It works very well with DOS)
-no need for a dedicated glide GPU atm

I know many of you would not like the build because It Is not period-correct but what I care about is it working at best given the above goals.

I am aware this may not be the optimal section so I kindly ask mods to move It where they see fit.

Thanks in advance for yuor help
