OpenGlide is an open source implementation of the 3dfx Glide 3D API used by Voodoo cards before the advent of Direct3D and OpenGL APIs. If I'm not mistaken, Glide was loosely based (as its name suggests) on OpenGL.
GLiDOS specifically uses OpenGlide as its Glide emulator.
Can't tell much more about it 😀
Yeh that's right.
Just to pick up on one point. I've heard this thing before about Glide being based on OpenGL, and at other times I've heard the converse. I don't know for sure, but I don't think either is true. They are so very different. I think 3dfx's claim is probably true that Glide was designed to be a thin veneer over their hardware.
Think that sums it up pretty much 😀

It's called OpenGlide because it translates Glide calls to OpenGL.
Or was it because its an open-source glide wrapper? I've never been sure. Perhaps for both reasons. Would need to ask Fabio.
