Hi, I have problem with my MIDI connections and maybe someone could help me.

I have two PCs:

PC1:
- SCC-1 (connected to the Breakout-Box MIDI IN)

PC2:
- SB X-FI with Breakout-Box
- Roland MT-32 (connected to the Breakout-Box MIDI OUT)
- Roland SC-55mkII (connected to the MT-32)
- Yamaha MU-50 (connected to the SC-55)

I use MIDI-OX to enable MIDI-THRU on the X-FI, but then the MT-32 drops the message "Exc. Checksum Error" when receiving SYSEX commands.

If I connect the MT-32 directly to the SCC-1 the error messages are gone.

Google-search knows that there seems to be a problem regarding the SYSEX buffer size, buffer length and the delay between the buffers. Unfortunately I was unable to solve the problem.

Could someone help me?

(I am the topic necromancer!)

If you have a Creative soundcard, you're better off picking up a USB MIDI dongle.

WRT the MT-32 hardware, transfer rate is a huge issue when sending sysex patches to the MT-32. I've *never* had a Creative soundcard that would consistently transfer properly. The MT-32 Resource Center at Quest Studios has several sysex utilities archived that give a variety of buffer size and transfer rate options for sending data. IIRC, the MT-32 requires a delay of 200ms between transfers (the default buffer size is usually fine)
