Im just diving deeper into editing MT-32 timbres.

There are timbres that are sensitive on MIDI CC expression (CC11), and othjers are not, e.g. timbre 16 (Accordion) is sensitive and timbre 63 (Elecric Guitar 2) is not.

I compared the settings of both timbres in the MT-32 editor, and I played around with changing parameters that have to do with volume, amplitude, etc. but I can't figure out the parameter that makes a timbre sensitive to MIDI expression.

Does anyone know this parameter?

A lot of trial and error, but I got it:

MIDI CC 11 (expression) is only applied to the volume of a note when the note is in the sustain phase and when the sustain level of the partial(s) is relatively high.

Because of this, MIDI CC 11 woks fine on organ timbres but not on piano timbres.

Good info! Thanks for sharing.
Probably the modulation wheel will affect some and not others also.

I have seen CC 11 in games before, I think. Couldn't tell you which though.
