I want to play in window mode but I run a 1280x960 desktop resolution with a 21" moniter therefore window mode is too small. How do I make the window bigger?

You did a huge search but you forgot to read the readme.
windowresolution=WxH
E.g. windowresolution=1280x1024
Edit dosbox.conf with notepad, which is located in your DOSBox folder.

Actually I did read the readme and I did already try that. I've tested the windowresolution setting using various resolutions... doesn't seem to do anything. Is there something else I have to do?
change output= to something else
