Hi

I'm running Dosbox 0.72 on OS X, with cycles set to max.

For the most part, games work fine and run at full speed. However, occasionally certain parts in a game will run incredibly slow (~1fps). When this happens, my CPU usage drops to almost nothing.

The bits that slow down are usually transition effects like fading between two screens. If I manually set cycles to something like 15000 then it works fine - this only happens when it's set to max.

Is there any way to prevent this from happening? Does cycles have a setting which forces it to always use 100% CPU regardless of how much the running application requires?

Thanks

I think so. Try cycles=max. Or maybe cycles=max 80%
