Intalled DOSBox on Windows 2000 upgraded from Windows 98. Computer is a Dell 700 mhz pentium III. No problems. Windows got corrupted so I reinstalled Windows 2000. It created a new windows directory called WINNT.
Reinstalled DOSBox .72 but it will not load. The DOSbox window comes up showing cycles and frameskip with no DOS prompt. It closes after 4-5 seconds. The only thing different now is that my windows director is WINNT rather than Windows. Is this the issue? Looked thru all the instructions for the config file and there was no reference to specifing the name of the windows director. Any ideas?

TIA

Make sure that DirectDraw/Direct3d are enabled in Dxdiag.
Upgrade your video drivers.
Make sure desktop color is set to 16 or 32bit.
Try different options in dosbox.conf for output=

Thanks for the tips. The problem was the video card driver. Used a better driver and the software loads fine.
