I noticed that DOSBox now has its own domain name, which - it has to be said - is very cool.

But please, I'm just curious, what was wrong with "dosbox.sourceforge.net"?

Of course, if it's too long there is always dosbox.sf.net to play with.

Sorry if this seems a silly question.

it's not silly.
A new domain name and the hosting on a not-sourceforge server allows for a few things that are nice to have.
For example the possibility to host non-opensource frontends on our server instead of only linking to it. (sourceforge forbids storage of non-opensource files on their servers)

An own domain itself is as it says cool. nothing wrong with the old name.

Wasn't someone else using dosbox.com, before? Could be a false memory, but I seem to recall something a little shady on that domain, at one time. This also keeps others from using it, taking advantage of DOSBox's name.
