hi im a linux user (ubuntu) and i have just installed dosbox but i cant seem to start .exe files. The .exes im trying to start is game files, Maniac mansion and dink smallwood. The error message i get is: this program can`t be run in dos mode.
this is what i did to get to the point where i get the error message.
1.i created a folder in my home dir called dosgames,i put the games in that folder
2.i open dosbox and type this: mount c /home/myusername/dosgames
3 i then type C: and get to my mount. then i type dir and can see my maniac mansion folder, i then use the cd command to change to that folder. when im in my maniac mansion folder i typ dir again and i can see the maniac.exe witch will start the game. But the problem is the game won`t start and none of my other games either i just get the error message this program cant be run in dos mode.

what am i doing wrong here? im really new to dos and quite new to linux also so any help or tip would be great thanks.

man i was such a retard. i thought i could play all oldies on dosbox. but now i have downloaded and tried a couple of games from the dosgames website and they work really well in dosbox. the sad thing is that monkey island is only a demo version on their website so my next qustion is, does anybody know where i can get full versions of monkey island and maniac mansion that are playable in dosbox?

We can't tell you where to get illegal downloads here. I'm not aware of any places selling Manaic Mansion or Monkey Island.

You may want to ask on the SCUMMVM forums where you can buy those games.
