I can't seem to record a video of my DOS game. I can record sound and take screenshots, but no video, what is wrong?
I get no error messages.

did you install the codec that comes with 0.72 ?
You don't need the codec to record videos.
I get no error messages.
Do you get any non-error messages?
Try to remap the record key combination using the mapper, maybe some other
application/tool steals the current one.

If you're on Windows Vista, and you used the DOSBox regular installer, you can't record videos right off the bat. As far as I know, Vista won't let applications create and alter files under \Program Files\.
Open dosbox.conf and alter the video capture path to something like c:\videos.
He said he can capture images, so write permissions should be fine.

He could have changed the image capture path before, no?
Actually he could have changed a number of settings in dosbox.conf that might have spoiled the video capture of course. I suggest you open dosbox.conf and take a look, it usually helps.

Yes and we have a separate directory for those and forcefully switching between those for fun.
