I am using an old-school type dos application for programming. I am wondering if this application may cause heating on my CPU to the point of any harm. I haven't experienced any problems yet. I am wondering if I could monitor this. Do you guys recommend I use DOSbox for this application?

Don't you have some type of process/CPU load tool installed that you can use to check on your CPU?

It won't harm your CPU more than other CPU demanding programs.
