How can I make specific keyboard configurations for games and have that load from my .conf file? I just want to change the controls for each game and then have that load automatically from my .conf file.

Are you using the DOSBox keymapper?

Is that were it shows a picture of a keyboard in the dosbox program? I tried messing around with that but I wanted something specific for each different game that I could maybe save in the .conf file.

If you change the default mapping, you can save your changes by clicking on
"Save". DOSBox will save the mapping to a location specified in the configuration
file (the mapperfile= entry). At startup, DOSBox will load your mapperfile,
if it is present in the DOSBox configuration file.
I.e. make a new config file, specify a new mapper file in it, start dosbox, start mapper, map, save, and from then on that config file uses that mapping.
Ok so I used the mapper but now when I want to type arena to start the game or exit to exit dosbox all my keys are different because I mapped them to something else. Is there a way to map the text "exit" or "arena" to one key? I tried but nothing happened.
Put the arena and exit commands in the dosbox.conf file. At the bottom.

Will it do it automatically then? I put arena in the conf file so my shortcut boots it automatically, it seems like if I put exit in there it will start arena then exit.
Ok so here is the bottom of my conf file:
[autoexec]
# Lines in this section will be run at startup.
@echo off
mount c "C:\Documents\DOS\Arena" -freesize 1000
mount d D:\ -t cdrom -ioctl
c:
arena
exit
It doesn't exit dosbox when I exit out of arena though.
Is arena a batch file?
No I made a shortcut that I use to execute it.
c:
arena
exit
Is arena a batch file? It can't be a shortcut for sure. If it's a batch file
you have to use "call arena" rather than "arena" alone.
Well it is a shortcut but I added this where it says Target:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\DOSBox-0.73\dosbox.exe" -conf arena.conf
So I double click on the shortcut and it uses my arena conf file automatically.
Re-read what i wrote.
Um ok, so it is a batch file then, is that what youre saying?
wd is not saying anything. He is asking. You are the one who should do all the saying since you have this arena thing on your PC, not wd.

Well he was saying that "It can't be a shortcut for sure." Anyway I still can't figure out how to type exit when I quit Arena.
Well you still didn't read everything i wrote, so again:
If it's a batch file you have to use "call arena" rather than "arena" alone.
