Has anyone noticed the sound difference between v. 70 and v. 73?

Sounds in 0. 73
This change appears only in few games, such as in Bio Menace the shooting- and key pick-up sounds are quite different.

Game music in 0. 73
The quality change is small but noticeable. Some games, especially ROTT, Major Stryker, Duke Nukem II, Monster Bash and other games which use AdLib music have expectional music quality compared to v. 70's.

IMO v. 70 supports the best music- and sound quality. So, I want to have the v. 70's sound and music quality to v. 73. The reason why I'm using v. 73 is cause I'm recording some of my playthrougs (v. 70's video capture doesn't work)

All in all, how can I get the v. 70's good sound and music quality to v. 73? Should I edit the conf.? And could I get a copy of unedited v. 70's conf. -file somewhere?

rate=22050 (v. 73)
I've lost my v. 70's conf. during the update.

I'm not sure I understand your post. You can try playing with "oplmode" "oplemu" and rate options in dosbox.conf

Seems like it works. Could you still tell me v. 70's oplrate? I can't check that out cause v. 70's conf. switched automatically to v. 73's

rates were the same in 0.70

install both dosbox's. you can even install some more versions. every dosbox has his own dosbox-ver.conf (you see in status window where its location is)

If you want good adlib support use 0.73 and check the comment at oplrate.

... towards the real thing. You are just used to the old wrong one.

If you haven't played the games on a real DOS system with an Adlib then you don't really know wheher 0.70 or 0.73 is more accurate.

While on a topic of oplrate, when I use 49716 on both the mixer and oplrate I get really muffled music. If I change the mixer to 48000 it sounds fine.

Is this a bug, or can't my Sound Blaster Audigy 2 play back this correctly?

Right, means resampling of your soundcard to this rate is borked.
Use 48000 or 44100 (assuming those sound better) for all rates then.
