I'm a fierce Newbie, and am having trouble getting Dosbox to operate fullscreen. Any help?

Try pressing ALT - Enter... That should work

Also avoid using a 24bpp desktop colour depth. 16bpp and 32bpp usually work fine.

Pusher, you are a bit misinformed. 24bpp will not work properly -- at all.

Yes, it’s my fault.

No changed it a bit with 0.60, 24 bpp will run but with a warning at startup that it'll be dogslow 😀

OH MY GOD!!! Alt+Enter...NOTHING ABOUT THAT IN THE BLOODY README FILE. Seriously, have you any idea how many people ask how to run DosBox? This means that that dang readme file doesn't help much.

Thank you for the bloke who said Alt+Enter... -fullscreen, yeah right.

ALT + ENTER is the Windows standard for every program that can be both in window and fullscreen mode. It's not really hard to figure out 😜

I suggest you reread the readme

=============
Special Keys:
=============

ALT-ENTER Go full screen and back.
CTRL-F5 Save a screenshot.
CTRL-F6 Start/Stop recording sound output to a wave file.
CTRL-F7 Decrease frameskip.
CTRL-F8 Increase frameskip.
CTRL-F9 Kill dosbox.
CTRL-F10 Capture/Release the mouse.
CTRL-F11 Slow down emulation (Decrease DOSBox Cycles).
CTRL-F12 Speed up emulation (Increase DOSox Cycles).

NOTE: Once you increase your DOSBox cycles beyond your computer's maximum
capacity, it will produce the same effect as slowing down the emulation.
This maximum will vary from computer to computer, there is no standard.

I push Alt+Enter, but what I get is still black screen surrounding, the z prompt doesn't go to left upper of my monitor.
I am using Win 2k and 1024 x 768 resolution. any help ?

Just additional information :

I just realize that when I first turn on my computer it will show the Win2k logo on the monitor but it is not full screen either, but it is the same size when using DOSBOX when the z> appears. Is it related ?

The box remains the same size when the game starts, with or without hitting Alt+enter.

If you're using a laptop, this can be a common problem. What will happen is that your laptop's lcd screen is only a certain resolution (Commonly 800x600 or 1024x768) Only programs running at the full resolution of the screen will take up the entire display. You can use the 'fullwidth' and 'fullheight' variables in your dosbox.conf to adjust this for DOS Box.
