Hard to believe but first DOSBox v0.1 released 10 years ago could already handle X-Wing!

Actually it is DOSBox 0.29 that is exactly 10 years old today.

First DOSBox was released 02-02-02. What a date!

So Dosbox 0.1 is exactly 10 years and 2 months old.

2002-05-02 - DOSBox 0.40
2002-07-25 - DOSBox 0.50

Hmm, don't remember which DOSBox I tried first, might have been 0.40.

Yes and many thanks to the authors for their continued work on this fine emulator. It is a dream come true for retrogamers who want to relive the early days of PC gaming without having to invest in a retro gaming machine. It is much easier to get games running under DOSBox than an actual PC running DOS.

The only people who will be challenged by DOSBox are those who have little to no exposure on DOS era computers.

A word of advice to noobs: if you are having trouble getting your game to work under DOSBox it would be even more difficult on a real retro PC. That's just the way DOS was for us back in the day.

I remember that 0.58 was the first version I encountered, but it wasn't until 0.63 that I really was ready to re-discover DOS games.

It can be more challenging to get DOS games to work on real hardware, or less, depending on the game, the OS and the hardware being used.
