There is noise/odd music when playing Pool of Radiance in Tandy mode.

Strange indeed, but I've seen no other reports of it and I haven't reproduced it. Have you tried LOADFIX? Maybe you have a bugged version of the game or corrupt files.

There's some info regarding configuration of DOSBox and the game in this recent thread that might help: Forgotten Realms Pool of Radiance sound?

.\SAVE\

I changet to

T

Now it works fine.

The "P" option is for PC speaker. I guess it would have been unusual for anyone to opt for PC speaker sound on a Tandy system. It could be the game is trying to play the Tandy music through port 42h instead of port C0h, causing a strange kind of sound. 😀

Does it happen on a real Tandy 1000?

Probably, but not sure. It's actually writing to port C0h, but unlike the "T" sound option the result is unintelligible.

For anyone with a Tandy 1000 that would try to see what happens with the "P" sound option, it might be just the first release of the game from 1988 that has the issue because later releases do not seem to play Tandy music at the title screen.

I'm lucky to have the first release of this game.
