Hello all.

I need to run an old dos application in Dosbox, and when I try to run it, I receive the following error message:

"Error: DOS Timer in wrong mode
Program will be aborted!

Remove TSR programs and device drivers and try again."

I managed to get round this by increasing the cycle rate on an old build, but I also need this app to use the serial port, and I am unable to get it to run using one of the later serial port cvs builds.

Can anyone help me out?

Cheers in advance.

Tony

Haha, well the app is some car diagnostic software, not a game, and not well known, but it doesn't run in winxp, and needs native dos.

I can get it to load on an old build, but the serial port doesn't seem to work, and on a new build with updated serial port settings, it gives this error.

I doubt anybody will be able to help you based on the information you provided... Maybe you can arrange with somebody experienced in DOSBOX debugging that you send him the apps and he will have a look on it...
Otherwise I guess you have bad luck.

You say that it only worked on the older build because you increased the cycle rate. Do you mean decreasing?

Have you tried the different DosBox cores/cycles in the latest CVS's?
