I am sure this has been asked before, sorry if I am wasting someone's time. With most games I play in Dosbox, they tend to run fine graphicly. But withine 5 minutes of playing or so, the sound will make a very loud scratching sound and cut out. Some times it comes back on, but most times not and I have to restart dosbox to get the sound working again. Is there something I can do , a patch or control I can alter, to prevent this? Thanks.

Is sound good enough outside DOSBox? Even after listening to something for a few minutes?

How is your DOSBox configured? Are you running with dynamic core? Are you using a reasonably amount of cpu cycles?

This looks like a driver problem. Never had this problem with dosbox, even with games that do not work properly. But I had this problem some time ago when playing FEAR before updating my Audigy 2 drivers. You should first try updating your sound card drivers. What system are you using to run dosbox on, which games are you trying to run?
